Short bio

Tony Viola is a justice advocate whose wrongful federal prosecution led to a broader investigation into prosecutorial misconduct and systemic failures within the criminal justice system. Following his exoneration in a subsequent state trial, he launched FreeTonyViola.com to document investigative findings, publish primary source materials, and support accountability efforts tied to wrongful convictions and abuse of power.

Tony Viola was investigated by the Cuyahoga County Mortgage Fraud Task Force, a multi-jurisdictional task force of state, local, and federal agencies, and prosecuted in parallel federal and state cases. While he was convicted in federal court, he was later exonerated in a subsequent state trial.

The discrepancies between those outcomes raised serious questions about investigative practices, evidentiary standards, and prosecutorial conduct. In response, Tony helped establish FreeTonyViola.com as a platform to document investigative findings, publish verified records, and collaborate with journalists, legal advocates, and content creators examining systemic failures in the criminal justice system.
